These Altar Offerings make the use of organic materials that
serve as symbolic metaphors of the 19th century Chinese California
pioneers coming to America. An alchemy of teas, seaweed, rust,
cut queues, blood, crushed bone, clay, and ashes are applied
as elixirs of immortality and encased in wax. Replicas of each
piece are ceremoniously burned as "dzidzat" at various
Chinese temple furneraries.
Their size vary from 21" H X 25" W to 66" H X
44" W. For more detail click on each image.
